Renji Abarai

Renji Abarai is Rukia's childhood friend from the Rukongai slums and the lieutenant of the 6th Division under Byakuya (later a Captain of... never sits still). His Zanpakutō, Zabimaru, is a segmented snake-like blade (his Bankai, Hihiō Zabimaru, becomes a giant skeletal serpent). Renji is loud, proud, scarred with tattoos, and dreams of surpassing Byakuya and becoming Captain himself. His rivalry with Ichigo during the Soul Society Arc was intense, but they became allies. Renji's true Bankai was revealed in TYBW: Soō Zabimaru, a massive three-pronged blade that fires devastating energy blasts. He eventually marries Rukia and becomes a Captain in the 13th Division.
