Jushiro Ukitake
Shinigami Captain / Gentle WarriorJushiro Ukitake was Captain of the 13th Division, a gentle soul with a chronic illness (lung disease) that limited his combat time. His Zanpakutō, Sōgyo no Kotowari, splits into two blades connected by a chain, and his Bankai (unseen) is hinted to be massive. Despite his frail body, Ukitake was a master kidō user and one of the most beloved Captains. He took Rukia into his division and mentored Kaien Shiba (whose death haunted him). In TYBW, he sacrificed his body to contain Mimihagi, the right arm of the Soul King, buying time for Ichigo. Ukitake died with a smile, finally able to repay his debt to the world. He was the kindest Captain.
